10月27日上午7时（美国时间 10月26日下午6时），美国明尼苏达大学克鲁斯丁校区校长Charles Casey博士向浙江经贸职业技术学院院长李曙明教授颁发了2011年度明尼苏达大学“火炬盾牌奖（Torch & Shield Award）”。李曙明院长是该校历史上首位获此奖项的国际人士。
火炬盾牌奖是美国明尼苏达大学为表彰杰出人才而设立的年度最高荣誉奖项。李曙明院长一直以来积极推动学院与明尼苏达大学在多方面的教育合作。双方的二个专科层次合作办学项目（农产品贸易和计算机软件技术）已培养毕业生200余名，其中50余名优秀毕业生顺利赴美深造；经过双方60余名项目教师的共同努力，专业与实训课程完成了两个阶段的整合与创新；共同打造的“中外合作办学项目理实一体化实训基地”与“ZJETP—UMC ESL CENTER”语言教学中心屡获好评；两校间共同开展的 “Study Abroad in China”项目，已为50余名美国学生提供了学习汉语，了解中国文化与社会经济发展的服务。
综上，经过多轮评选，明尼苏达大学特授予李曙明院长火炬盾牌奖以表彰其在教育国际交流领域所做出的特殊贡献。
