Zhejiang Economic & Trade Polytechnic is a comprehensive college specializing in advanced vocational education, with an emphasis on economics and trade, and featuring an integration of science, art, engineering and management into the curriculum.

The college is located near picturesque West Lake in the city of Hangzhou. This beautiful city is renowned as a cultural and educational center with excellent public transportation. It is an ideal place to study and for advanced professional training. As part of its institutional development plan, the college has invested 2.8 hundred million yuan to build a modern, 600 – mu new campus in the eastern part of the Higher Educational Center in Xiasa, Hangzhou. 

There are over 344 faculty members in the college, including 290 full time teachers, 4 of them are professors, 59 of them are associate professors. The college is organized into six departments: Business Administration; International Trade; Information Technology; Accounting and Basic Theories, Applied Technology. Over 7000 full – time students are enrolled in the following majors: Marketing, Accounting, Commercial Secretary, E – Commerce, International Trade, Computer Technology and Application, Business Management (emphasizing supermarket chains), Hotel management, Investment and Finance Management, Exhibition and Advertisement, Applied Foreign Language, Automobile Marketing, Biological Technology, etc. By 2006, the college expects to offer 15 specialities with undergraduate students enrolled in advanced vocational education courses.

In order to facilitate the teaching and learning enterprise, the college has established an Experimental and Training Center featuring modern educational technology. The college has established the following specialized teaching facilities: Educational Audio – Visual Laboratory, Simulated Laboratory for Accounting, Simulated Laboratory for International Trade, Commodity Inspection Laboratory, Language Laboratory, Computer Laboratory, Multi – media Drawing Laboratory, Stock – Investment Laboratory, Experimental Supermarket. In addition, numerous off – campus satellite centers provide professional experience in a practical setting. Also, the college library features a collection of 140,000 volumes and subscribes to more than 600 titles of magazines and newspapers in both Chinese and English.

The experienced, dedicated teaching faculty is committed to excellent teaching and research. As part of its forward planning, the college expects to hire additional highly qualified teachers who possess at least a Master’s degree and to provide ideal living and working surroundings for them.
